After the brutal Game 3 loss on Saturday, the Edmonton Oilers needed a big statement game, and boy did they ever deliver.

Edmonton again started the scoring early 90 seconds into the match when the puck stopped dead behind the Las Vegas net. Connor Brown found a quick centering pass through traffic and Adam Henrique was there to rip it past Adin Hill for the first goal of the night.

A minute later, Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman rushed the net but shot the puck high. However, Hill – still upset by the first goal – shoved Hyman into the ground after the whistle for being too deep in his crease. No penalty on the play.

Janmark decided to get cute and “accidentally” bump into the Vegas goaltender on the next play. The Golden Knights were not happy about it in the least, and Nick Hague and Trent Frederic went at it – exchanging about thirty punches. Edmonton was issued an extra two minutes for roughing, but the Oilers PK squad killed the penalty off with a vengeance, and Stuart Skinner made a great save in the final seconds.

Edmonton scored their second goal of the night almost identical to the first, except this time Evander Kane steam rolled through Adin Hill afterwards. Hill was absolutely irate and tried to attack any Oiler he could find. Kane went to the penalty box for charging, and again the Edmonton penalty kill was up for the task.

The second period was predictably less intense than the first, but Edmonton kept their foot on the gas. Kane scored the only goal of the period off a rush with a quick release wrist shot, and Hyman gave Adin Hill another bump for good measure. By the end of the first forty minutes the Oilers outshot the opposition two-fold, and also held a sizeable lead in both hits and faceoff draws.

Edmonton finished off the night with a solid defensive effort by the entire lineup. Vegas spent most of the last ten minutes deep in their own end, desperately trying to find some momentum, but Edmonton never gave them a chance to get back in it. Stuart Skinner made a couple quality saves to cap off the night, and he completed the shutout for a final score of 3-0 Oilers. It was a much needed bounceback game after the less-than-stellar performance on Saturday.

A huge character win for the Oilers. Each and every player contributed throughout the lineup. There’s wasn’t a single passenger on the team in Game 4.

Vegas is in big trouble now.

The Oilers now have a 3-1 lead in the series and a chance Wednesday night to eliminate the Vegas Golden Knights in their own barn. The Knights will have to bring their best, and if this game was any tell – their best might not be good enough.

Now we have the mindset to attack more; I think you see that – we’re attacking the net more.”
